Time during takeback

Why isn't the time rolled back after a takeback? After a few takebacks with 30 seconds left, my clock ran out before I even had a chance to play. What's the point of the takeback if it doesn't revert the the original position including the original time?
Because the opponent wasted his time without playing, and the extra thinking you get with takebacks is also time that should be deducted. I think it's fair in my opinion, especially in blitz endgame when time matters a great deal.
Anybody else want to voice their opinion? Let me give you an example where it hurts in blitz. If there's a mouseslip that causes a mistake or blunder and the move is allowed to be taken back, then the time it takes to accept the takeback hurts the player. Also, what time is there to think about a new move if the takeback is asked for immediately, and the mouse slip is obvious?
Just don't allow TBs in blitz. Simples. Otherwise you get idiots taking the you know what.
I sympathise with both views, however, I have to side with Woden when drawn to an answer. Permitting a takeback is an act of altruism. To then expect time back would denigrate the act.
In short - permitting a takeback is a generous act. If you don't feel like being generous, then don't give the takeback. It all depends on the game - if it's ultra competitive and the stakes are high - I personally wouldn't.
On a side-note of takebacks - it is annoying when the reason for the takeback wasn't a mouse-slip but a sudden realisation of cock-up momentus and that person then goes on to win the game :D (No names mentioned ;)
You act like only 2 seconds are shaved off the clock during a takeback. Typically it takes 30 seconds to do a takeback. I explain that the error was a mouseslip, two takebacks have to be requested then accepted, then the move has to take place. This time effects the game a lot in blitz. While takebacks may be an act of generosity, why even play if you don't want to win fairly? This includes allowing a takeback for a mouseslip and restoring the time to the original amount. Or does everyone on this website only care about their rating?
? You're playing the ultimate chess right.....quick everything.......and your opponent asks you 'Can I have a takeback please?' No! Would you like to change the rules after we started playing? No! WTF are you asking for? 'God like' status to add and subtract time as you see fit? You have been given the opportunity to say no!
Sorry to be so blunt but.........
OK. If somebody asks you for a takeback. You know the risk right? You might forfeit the game? If it means that much to you - say no! If you want to be altruistic (look the word up - it's difficult to understand) then do it! You might learn something?
It has nothing to do with rating for me. I don't do takebacks even in casual games. Nothing personal. It's just all about how you learned to play. I learned chess playing blitz for quarters in the park. It was always touch move and absolutely no takebacks. No exceptions. You can kibitz after the game if you want to explore what might have been. Those were the rules then and they're still the rules now. No crying in baseball and no takebacks in chess.
