Pausing correspondence games

Hi all,

I'm wondering if it's possible to pause my correspondence games for a couple of days because I'm going on holiday and I don't want to be forced to make any chess moves there. Is there a way to do this?
Just resigning the game and start the game back up later using the board position, I think.
Unfortunately, there is no such feature. Otherwise, an opponent in a losing position could 'pause' the game in order to avoid checkmate/material loss.

Next time, play correspondence with 5-7 days (or more) per move. From experience, playing with a longer time control won't slow down the game; most people reply to moves very promptly.
It would be nice to have a stash of "emergency"/vacation time to turn on for these things. It would refill with time when not active and be active for all games.
Thanks for your responses. I agree with flugsio.
@chessatom: I think you could limit abuse of this feature by setting a maximum amount of days per month/year, to avoid such situations.
@VXO: wouldn't that cost me some rating points?
also we need a way to pause tournament games. like in the middle of the game. Ideally I could pause the game, leaving my opponent waiting then I would get a new game, and either win that one and seek another new game or pause it and seek another new game. yeah we need this feature badly.

It could be an agreed upon thing. Like both players say "pause" and either player can resume the game. Then it's more gentleman-like.
@gr8m8m8: I don't get the point of your reaction.. Tournament games is a whole different story, of course.
