+-500, or how to destroy the greatest chess platform with one unthoughtful decision!

@jeffforever You are right. I don't know whether you noticed that I also mentioned it in my first post.

@Araskaankurt I don't understand.

@AlexanderNiLaUsEn I don't know whether the experience of fresh players will be that different. As far as I remember, back in 2018 my offers were accepted mostly by some 1500-1700 players until I learnt to set the rating range. About your second post, until now I was generally a lobby player, but maybe now I'll switch to tournaments, who knows.

Two general observations:
1) Now about positive aspects of Lichess: the freedom of speech here is fantastic. On chess.com I would have already been blocked.
2) It is ridiculous that among nine people downvoting my original post, seven were too lazy to try challenging my arguments in any way.
I'm happy with it only because i get no more server matches from 1500? players with 0 rated games

Although that could have been filtered out in a different way
I love lichess since I have discovered it, and I will love it forever no matter what.
I was patron for a long while and as soon as I have more money I will become permanent patron.

I do agree with the post. It was fun to can play rare times with some really strong players, and with this new update, it won't be possible that way.
Let's not forget, we can still match them on the arena tournaments. @Otienimous , I guess you are aware of that.

At this point, I enjoy playing chess no matter what, so this update doesn't make a big difference to me; but @thibault , I'm curious to know why this update was implemented if the previous system was already working good.
Is there a place where we users/patrons can follow those updates and the reason why they are implemented?
Fwiw, I also hate the change. Most importantly, I don't get it what lichess is trying to accomplish with this, would be great to get some kind of explanation. From a basic point of view it simply takes away options and less options are always worse than more options. All the options that I have now with +-500 I had before as well, but I had many more like -1500 to -1000 or +1000 to +2000 or any other if I wanted to. Don't see the point in taking those away from players.

This will most likely just lead to more aborted games if you get matched with a player you don't want to play and therefore to a worse experience for the entire customer base, even those that were only searching in the +-500 bracket before the change anyway.
A genuine question: does anybody like the new lobby change? Put your opinions on it here
@JustTraining
Yes, the old system worked fine, but I think now the new update has a benefit. Now 1500? players won’t be paired up with 1200 players. The new system has less benefitS than downsides so Lichess should make a feature to turn the ±500 on or off. As for the playing GMs, it’s always nice to have a challenge.
@Otienimous, Please don’t leave. Lichess is much better than any other chess website.
I really don't like this change... There should be the option of deliberately choosing an opponent rated at least 100 rating points lower/higher and now you will always be paired with someone with similar rating...
