More Elite Tournaments!

With more and more powerful players joining lichess daily, the site is a good deal stronger than when the Elite Superblitz and Elite Bullet events were implemented. Both are very popular, and usually won by 2700+ players.
Considering this, and the success of the Titled Arenas, there's clearly a demand for more strong tournaments on the site. Therefore I propose:

- A 1-hour Daily Elite superblitz and bullet tournament for 2200+ players
- A 2-hour Weekly Elite superblitz and bullet tournament for 2400+ players, taking place at the same time as the current tournaments

I see elite tournaments as a way of encouraging even tougher competition here on lichess, with more quality chess for players and spectators alike. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Cheers,
Rrhyddhad
I think daily weekday 2200+ tournaments for 1/0 and 3/0 should definitely be introduced.

It is often requested by players at this level and is also only fair, given the large number of u1500/u1700/u2000 tournaments that occur on a daily basis. Strong players also appreciate the opportunity to play exclusively strong players.

I suggest introducing weekday daily elite arenas for 1/0 and 3/0 that are 45 - 60 mins long.

And keeping weekend ones 2 hours long.

The criteria for "Elite" may also need increasing with respect to rating inflation (ie github.com/ornicar/lila/issues/5673#issuecomment-557848236). 2200 around 12 months ago seems to be be approximately the same strength as 2300 now, so the minimum rating for tournament entrance may need to rise if we want equivalent minimum skill to what was originally intended.

I completely support @Rrhyddhad proposal to introduce tournaments for 2400>. I think it would encourage other players from different sites to come play on Lichess - they will always get a 'good game'. And ofc, there will be many more spectators for such good quality events.
There is a reason why its called Elite Tournaments, cos its special and making it daily will 'kill' its legendary status, if i was asked i would make it twice per month. When i see Elite tournament on my homepage i get so excited but if this happens on a daily basis i don't think i would be excited as such it would be boring. The word ELITE ignites some spark that this is a special and rare tournament. If you want tournaments for strong 2200+ players then let it be called Over 2200 Arenas.
I really like this idea. Strong players are the ones who attract weaker ones which transitionally expands the whole community and makes a chess arena stand out amidst crowded other competitors. There's a finite amount of them and introducing more elite tournaments( 2200+, 2400+, 2600+, titled etc) is probably the cheapest way to preserve them here.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying players below 2200 or 2400 for , this matter, are not important, they indeed are, but elite players are the ones who attract them( it has been seen on numerous occasions that diminishing number of strong players makes the whole online arena gradually diminish ie ICC, FICS or Playchess which all used to be top notch arena at certain point).
Tournaments are the only place where weaker players still have a chance to play titled players. Allowing everyone to join doesn't make much of a difference in the final results (stronger players always win) or the pairings (apart from maybe the first few rounds stronger players end up playing each other).
Elite players are more likely to join an elite tournament. Human nature.
@erikelrojo The inclusion of 1 daily 2200+ tournament (at a time different to daily bullet / blitz tournaments) isn't going to diminish players in other tournaments nor take away opportunities from weaker players

Weaker players have opportunities to play stronger players all day every day in just about any hourly tournament. These will be kept. It is just about having exclusivity sometimes (once a day), just like there are u1500, u1700, u2000, etc, there should also a some more 2200+ options

A lot of strong players have a preference to play only strong opposition sometimes. As @arex says, it's quite strong enticement to join in the first place and sign up in advance
