I was playing a game on android and my opponent was taking forever to move. (I'm pretty sure they left, it was the 8th move and they had 3 minutes out of 10 left). I went to go make some moves in my daily games. When I came back to see if the 3 minutes were over I found that I lost because I had abandoned. Honestly this is lichess fault but is there any way for them to regive my rating points or is it useless to try.
Sounds like he beat you with patience and psychology. Anything could have happened; maybe he spilled a drink and he was trying to clean and play at the same time, or he has a child that started crying or whatever. You played yourself my dude. You live and you learn.

I mean ofc I wasn't going to exit out of the game because I definitely knew that was going to abandon it. I've done this before, where my opponent is taking a long time to move and I play daily games. I don't know why this abandoned this time.

Brother, the guy has to be in the game to claim victory, therefore he didn't abandon. You were the one who abandoned. You believed so hard that you baited yourself.

I believe he has a point.
Opponent shouldn't have the possibility to claim victory on unfinished game if I have absolutely no history of ever leaving intentionally a game instead of resigning.
I had times where I lost internet and was in panic because I knew that if I didn't reconnect immediately with mobile data or something I might lose much faster than what my timer may show.
I suppose the perfect system doesn't exists but imo if, let's say, for your last 200 games you never disconnected, not even once then the first disconnection shouldn't trigger a 'claim victory' button. And this would get reset every 200 games. That seems fair.
