false accusations, or poor sportsmanship?

why is it when i play around 2000 elo players that beat me consistently insult me for being terrible, however if i beat them, i must be cheating and they refuse to play me? this is especially prevalent in antichess.
well i want to play 2k+ elo people in antichess but everyone accuses me of using sjeng. but clearly, if i used sjeng, i would never lose.
put the following Monty Python on your clipboard and place it in the chat box:

_____French Soldier: I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
Lol Isaiah4031, excellent answer XD

I think that the best way to deal with such people, even in life, is to either completely ignore hostility, or if you must reply, don't do so out of anger. Replying with anger annoyance will only encourage them and reinforce their belief that their insults are working. Replying, rather, with a smile gets them angry lol... But it's easier not to reply.

But Yeah, such behaviour nonsensical is stupid. If they're insulting, report them.
Every thread I've seen Isaiah post in has a reference to a film.

*Thumbs up* I love movies... :)

As for your plight LeMusique, I frankly don't understand it. I'm not rated that high in any variation, but I don't see why they are singling you out.
Sometimes it's hard when you realize you are no longer improving, that your game has plateaued. We should feel sympathy for players stuck at the 2000 level. They live and play in chess purgatory. Many feel like failures because of the constant aching knowledge they'll never reach master level. Win or lose there's no exit from their shattered dreams. Consequently some take out their frustration on lower rated players. Those of us stuck at the 1700 level are much more likely to have accepted our limitations and, win or lose, we can relax and play with an easy enjoyment of the game.
So you're saying that they aren't targeting him specifically? That accusations of cheating are a regular occurrence among players at that level?

That makes more sense. False accusations or poor sportsmanship? It looks like poor sportsmanship.
I do not accept your invitation to a pity party for strong players, however.

You think THEY feel like failures? What about US? We have an enormous amount of room for growth. For you to resign lazily and lay down so far from the end of the road is complacent. You sit down and then call for sympathy for those that kept going.

I may be a 1700 (strictly on lichess) but I do not "relax" and have an "easy enjoyment" of the game, and rather than having pity for strength, I have respect and a hateful envy.
I'm just saying that becoming a master is a dream for many good players and being stuck at 2000 is frustrating for them, therefore they're more likely to be prickly, win or lose. When I beat a 2000 player I might get a snide comment, whereas a 2200 player is more likely to say well done or good game. Players 2200 or above are just more secure in their own chess abilities and less likely to act out against lower rated players.
