I would say Portugal played cowardly, but that was smart.

You can't say they didn't deserve to win just because they defended more (and better). It's not just about scoring.

It's not about scoring,it's rather about making the public excited :)

Their match was quite boring. Instead of being so defencive and do nothing,France was at least attacking,trying to do something.

There's no fun in watching a closed variation of footbal where people keep the ball in their posession,wait for time to run out and similar crap.

It just cannot compare to interesting matches such as Wales - Belgium. That one was quite exciting :)

Portugal defended because that was what they needed to do. That was their strategy. Hell, they lost CR7; they were playing ON FRENCH SOIL AGAINST FRANCE; the crowd rooting for the other... What'd you suggest for them? France, on the other hand, stopped attacking in the second half...thinking the penalties would do... And, in fact, France barely attacked that much...they were content just keeping the possession in many times, it seemed.

@Neverness. Did you really watch the match ? France kept attacking, that's all they did, non stop, that was their only chance to win, but the Portuguese defended so well the French could just not find a way in.

(Extra time) Total shots: 3 (Portugal); 1 (France). Shots on target: 2; 0. So yeah, basically Portugal TRIED in the extra time whilst France waited for the penalties...

(First half) Total shots: 4; 7. Not even such a great imbalance, eh? For a team that 'kept attacking non-stop'...
