Invisible Pieces: Women in Chess

WTF is lichess doing allowing this to be posted on their blog? You should all be ashamed for that one - whoever was involved in the screening process. IMO you need to write an apology for this. ITS JUST THAT BAD.

I'm emotionally charged from a recent death of somebody close to me. HOWEVER, I don't think I'm in the minority of people that will skim the first line, dismiss this article for sexist bullshit and move on. I am in the minority of people who will come and post to tell you how offending the opening of the article is. The rest of you probably read it. What about the people that read the first paragraph and could not bear to watch somebody put down women in chess once again?
Yeah, they need to write an apology for support equal opportunity and pointing out inequality. Stupid lichess...
wait....
so we arent talking about the 200 point lower titles, or female-exclusive tournaments?
Yeah, imagine an oppressed group who actually has the privileges.
#182 equal opportunity? Yes, I'm with that.
Remove women's titles and tourneys.

@svensp Each action you perform has with it a risk of fatality. If you eat cereal, you may choke and die. If you go for a walk you may have an air-conditioning unit dropped on you. If you get in a car someone may crash into you. Likewise, if you post an article on a chess forum with your name attatched, you might be tracked down and killed by a chess-loving psychopath with a lot of time on their hands. The point is that these all have acceptable levels of risk that each one of us accepts on a daily basis without further thought. Unfortunately though, some very small number of people do choke to death on cereal, and some are crushed by air-conditioning units. But the risk is so tiny that we can accept it, and still perform those activities. I would argue that the risk of being killed by someone for posting an article on a chess website is acceptably low to the point that you can even forget about it. I'd even argue that it's a risk lower than the risk of dying in a car crash. And this is basically a moot point anyway, because if you know who the Lichess admins are you can more or less guess who wrote this.
Hou Yifan claimed that there are many reasons for the lack of female contenders at the chess top-level. She says there is a physical aspect to long chess games that might advantage men, and that men generally work harder at chess than women growing up. She uses Chinese girls as an example and points out that most prefer a balanced life, prioritizing things like university and family life at the cost of working on chess. But she claims there are also external factors: girls playing chess growing up are only encouraged to compete for the girl's title, which might lower their motivation.
I am a man. When I was a child I always played chess with girls. I've been taught the game by a girl, actually. So, here are my answers:

"Chess is a game for men" - What are you talking about?
"Women are not gifted as men to play chess" - What? Are you nuts?
"Women don't like to beat men at playing chess" - You've gotta be kidding!
"Women don't like to play chess" - You don't know women, maybe
"Women can't be chess champions" - Me neither
"Chess players are 90% male and 10% women" - No! Really? Jeez, what a nightmare.

So, sick and tired of all these nonsense, here it is: the Gender Balance Chess Club:
lichess.org/team/gender-balance-chess-club

You can only join the Club if your membership contributes to get your gender reach 50% of the Club members. Subscribers of the numerically prevailing gender will be put in a wait list until the other gender reaches 50%.

No sexism of any kind is allowed. Subscribe only if you like to play chess, and that's all.
First BLM and now this. Authors clearly knew where this will lead and they didn t really care, their main purpose is to troll right wing people by throwing leftist turds on this site time after time and have a laugh reading the combustible discussion that follows, one such author even made it clear in the beginning of the discussion, which is kinda pathetic.
no one ever encouraged me to become a professional basketball player. i could have been rich.

damn you, society!!!!
