Every time I create a tournament, it does not show up on the lichess schedule when I look at it, so nobody joins. Why???
because people don't want to join a random person's tournament maybe you should make a team. lichess.org/team/new
Earlier, there were all user created tournaments showing in arena schedule, but as far as I remember, it got changed due to technical reasons. As poster above requested, you can create a team, where your friends can join and then make it as a team tournament.

Hard to help if we don't know what tournament you mean. Most likely you don't meet the requirements of the tourney you want to join. Like rating range, or needed number of games played, which is mentioned on the tournament page.
Or you selected a team tournament, and you're not part of that team.
