"resign dude don't waste my time"

#9 I disagree with your comment to #6. A player should be able to do whatever they want with the time on their clock. To make it a part of an "appropriateness" discussion sounds unduly restrictive to me. Who's to say the person who "trolls by running down their clock" is in fact doing that? They may in reality just be a noob.
There is more to chess than what happens on the board. Dude is just trying to get inside your head.

Sometimes after a good move I'll throw out a "gg" in game chat. Once in awhile they will resign unnecessarily.
to #7, my opponent thought my position was hopeless and I was wasting his time. I didn't agree with him that my position was hopeless and in fact I won the game. So I was right at this time. Anyways I like endgame practice and defending difficult positions where my opponent has an advantage, sometimes a big advantage. I don't give up easily.
I always resign when I feel my position is hopeless and I cannot win on time.
To be honest, your position was theoretically hopeless. But given the rating of both of you, it seems okay to continue playing, because winning this game still requires some technique. However, if you were to continue playing in this position regardless of your and your opponent's skill, this would be an improper attitude.
